KEEPING A PET IN PUBLIC HOUSING

In compliance with Section 526 of the Quality Housing and Work Responsibility Act of 1998, QHA residents shall be permitted to own and keep common household pets. Animals that are an auxiliary for persons with a disability are excluded from this policy. The ownership of common household pets is subject to certain rules and limitations listed in the Pet Policy which is available upon request.

The procedures for admitting a pet to the public housing facility are as follows:


1. Obtain a Pet Policy from the Quincy Housing Authority Office.

2. Read the policy rules and limitations thoroughly.

3. Fill out the information requested on page 4 of the Pet Policy; sign and date on page 3.

4. Include any paperwork from a veterinarian showing inoculations and proof of spay/neuter.

5. Bring pet policy to the office, along with your pet deposit:

a. $200.00 pet deposit for families
b. $175.00 pet deposit for seniors

Once paperwork is approved and a deposit is provided, resident will be given a pet sticker for their residence.
