Ground was broken in September of 1941 and the first families moved in on November 1, 1942. Indian Hills consists of 200 units and Frederick Ball is 49 units. These are 1, 2, 3, and 4 bedroom apartments for families and elderly.

In September of 1962 the QUINCY HOUSING AUTHORITY received a grant for the construction of 44 units at 29th & Broadway and 5 units at 6th & Cherry for the elderly and 10 units at 9th & Lind for Families.

In 1967 the QUINCY HOUSING AUTHORITY received a Federal Grant for the construction of a Hi-Rise Apartment Complex for Senior Citizens. This was to be located at 5th & Broadway and construction started on September 3, 1969 and the first tenant moved in on March 16, 1971.

In September of 1989 we celebrated our 50th anniversary of providing decent safe and affordable housing. In 1993, we began receiving Comprehensive Grant moneys for modernization. And now, as we head into the new millennium, we will continue to modernize our units to be more competitive in today's market place. Even with a soaring economy, low income families are having a tougher time finding affordable housing because of rising rents and the loss of public housing units. QUINCY HOUSING AUTHORITY is preparing for the anticipated occupancy problems of the future with our modernization and partnership with local agencies to establish resident councils and self-sufficiency.
